CGFNS
For a medical Nurse to qualify to work in the United States, it is mandatory for her to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) which can only be taken in the United States. However, in order to assess the likelihood of a Nurse passing the NCLEX-RN examination, one is encouraged to pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) certification programme before leaving for the United States.

The three parts of the programme include a credential review, a qualifying exam of nursing knowledge and an English Language Proficiency Examination. Applicants must successfully complete all three parts of the certification programme in order to earn the CGFNS certificate. The CGFNS qualifying examination is open to first-level General (Registered) and B.Sc. Nurses only.
The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools was established as a not-for-profit, immigration-neutral organization with a commitment to protecting the public by ensuring that Nurses educated in countries other than the United States are eligible and qualified to meet licensure and other practice requirements in the U.S. The CGFNS mission is to provide leadership in (healthcare education), registration and licensure to the global nursing and professional healthcare communities. CGFNS protects the public in relation to evolving healthcare policies and standards of professional practice for migrating healthcare professionals. CGFNS provides products and services that validate credentials and enhance international regulatory and educational standards for healthcare professionals. Normally CGFNS Conducts examinations on the second Wednesday of March, July, September and November. The following are the CGFNS Examination Centres in India:
