Am I Eligible?

Speed and accuracy are the key elements that determine the success of a Medical Transcriptionist. Any person with a good command of English, excellent typing skills and who is capable of accurately transcribing voice files to text files could be a successful Medical Transcriptionist.

For admission to training, an applicant will be required to take a written screening test and undergo a personal interview. Only graduates (any discipline) are normally permitted to take the Screening Test. To qualify for admission, a candidate must have secured a minimum of 67 % marks in the TOEFL Test.

Where Can I Get Trained?

Presently, Training in Medical Transcription is provided at Chemmanur Academy’s Kottayam Centre located at “Logos Centre, Shastri Road.Also training conducted at Manglore and Trivandrum centres. For details, please contact the Centre Manager. To get a list of Chemmanur Centres, please click here.

What Training Will I Get?

Selected candidates will be provided a five-month training in Medical Transcription. Among other things, the main topics include Language of Medicine, Medical Transcription Essentials, Americanism, Phonetics, English, Typing, etc. Training consists of theory and practical sessions. Every trainee will be provided with a multimedia computer system for practicing conversion of voice files to text files.

How Long Is The Training?

The duration of the training programme is 5 months. Two batches are scheduled to run concurrently: 1st batch: Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 2nd batch: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Normal class hours are from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., three days a week for each batch.

How Much Does The Training Cost?

The Course fee is Rs.25,000/- (inclusive of course material valued at Rs.5,000/-). It may be paid in two instalments: Rs.15,000/- at the time of admission and Rs.10,000/- within a maximum period of 2 months from the date of admission. In all cases of payment, applicable taxes will be extra. Course materials will be supplied as the course progresses and as determined by the Course in charge .

Where Will I Stay During The Training?

Chemmanur Academy will assist those who require accommodation to find a suitable place to stay during the training. Cost of such facilities will be borne by the trainee.

Will I Get A Job After Training?

It is Chemmanur Academy’s endeavour to assist their trainees with employment opportunities in excellent Companies. How Much Can I Earn As A Medical Transcriptionist?

Frankly, for a qualified Medical Transcriptionist, the sky is the limit for earning. In addition to the fixed salary, MTs earn a handsome amount by way of incentives. With excellent speed and accuracy, there are those who earn more than Rs.40,000/- a month!

Can I Work From Home?

A qualified Medical Transcriptionist who fulfils certain proficiency criteria can, of course, work from the convenience of one’s home - and get the same benefits. This is particularly helpful for people who are prevented by circumstances to leave home and attend regular office hours.
